Dear friends and family,
This month has been absolutely glorious! My fifth round of chemo took place July 21st and since then I have had a break from treatment! It has been so wonderful to have weeks of feeling like myself, soaking up the last bit of summer with the kids, and having the headspace to process more fully the events of the past four months.
In some ways it has felt like an eternity since we received the news of my diagnosis and in other ways it’s felt like a time warp of just a few weeks. Nevertheless, we are moving forward and heeding the advice we’ve heard over and over: take it one day at a time.
With the kids beginning school and Austin and I heading into a sabbatical season with our job, I know these next few months will give all of us adequate time to catch our breath.
UPDATE ON MY NEXT STEPS IN TREATMENT:
We head to Houston on August 28th so I can get prepped for surgery on my liver and the peritoneum on August 30th. I will be in Houston until Sept 9th recovering. Austin’s going to stay for about half the time and then will travel back to the kids so we both aren’t away from them for so long.
After my recovery, I believe I will resume chemo treatment for a few more rounds but the specifics on this are unknown to us at this time.
HOW TO HELP:
• Your continued prayers are always welcome. Specific prayers would be that I don’t contract any sicknesses before surgery that would cause delays or complications. Continued prayers for Austin and the kids as they manage the stress of walking a road none of us ever have before and for my recovery after surgery.
• If you want to send the kids “happy mail” (aka cards of encouragement) during the time I’m away in Houston that would be amazing! (Text me or Austin for the address.)
Thank you again for your kindness, support, and love during this leg of the journey. We love you all immensely and I thank God for each of you.

Love you so much sis. Haven’t stopped praying for you or Austin… like, every single night. Will continue to do so. We and the girls have your back. I am glad you get to have any kind of “take it easy” experience during this time. Thank you so much for keeping us updated. We love you all so much.
